Athletic Tryouts/Practices

Players must have a physical on file to participate in 2023-24 CMS sports activities.  Beginning 6/1/2023 all athletes must have a completed physical on file through FinalForms in order to participate. CMS no longer accepts paper copies of physicals. Please see Athletic Documents tab for more information.

FALL SPORTS
CROSS COUNTRY (BOYS & GIRLS)
*Students in 
g
rades 6, 7 and 8 may participate
*Information for the fall season will be available mid-May for the upcoming season
*Practice starts the first week of school (usually before the first student day of classes)
*Students must have a physical dated 4/1/"year of cross country season they are running" or later in order to participate in cross country.  See     Athletic Documents tab for more information
*Parent meeting will be held in mid-August  
*Specific information will be available in the front office as well as posted to the Cross Country page


FALL CHEER (CO-ED)
*Students in grades 7 and 8 may participate
*Information for fall season tryouts will be available mid-March.  Tryouts will be the end of May (for the following school years squad).   Tryouts will be for current 6th and 7th graders.  Students must have a current physical (for the current school year if they have participated in sports during the current school year) or physical dated 4/1/"year of tryout" or later in order to try out.  See   Athletic Documents tab for more information
*Parent meeting will be during the week of tryouts
*We offer Cheer intramurals for current 6th and 7th graders in mid-April (information available mid-March).  This is a great opportunity   for students who would like to see what cheer is all about.  Students will not need a physical to participate in intramurals.
*Specific information will be available in the front office as well as posted to the Cheer page

FOOTBALL (CO-ED)

*Students in grades 7 and 8 may participate
*Information for the fall season will be available mid-May for the upcoming season
*Parent meeting will be held in late May  
*Summer conditioning will begin in June.  Students must have a physical dated 4/1/"year of football season they are playing" or later in order to    participate in summer conditioning.  See Athletic Documents tab for more information
*Equipment handout will be the beginning of August  
*Specific information will be available in the front office as well as posted to the Football page

VOLLEYBALL (GIRLS)
*Students in grades 7 and 8 may participate
*Information for the fall season will be available mid-May for the upcoming season
*Summer open gym will begin in June.  Students must have a physical dated 4/1/"year of volleyball season they are playing" or later in order to       participate in summer conditioning/tryouts.  See Athletic Documents tab for more information
*Tryouts start the beginning of August
*Parent meeting will be held in August for athletes making the team
*Specific information will be available in the front office as well as posted to the Volleyball page


WINTER SPORTS
BASKETBALL (BOYS & GIRLS TEAMS)
*Students in grades 7 and 8 may participate
*Information for basketball tryouts will be available beginning of October for the upcoming season
*Open gym will begin first week of October.  Information for open gyms will be available mid-September.  Students must have a physical in   order to participate in open gyms/tryouts.  See Athletic Documents tab for more information
*Tryouts start the end of October/beginning of November
*Parent meeting will be held mid-November for athletes making the team
*Specific information will be available in the front office as well as posted to the Basketball pages

SWIM & DIVE (CO-ED)
*Students in grades 6, 7 and 8 may participate
*Information for swim & dive tryouts will be available beginning of January for the upcoming season
*Tryouts are the last week of January.  Students must have a physical in order to participate in open gyms/tryouts.  See Athletic Documents tab   for more information

*Parent meeting will be held before tryouts in mid-January
*Specific information will be available in the front office as well as posted to the Swim & Dive page


WRESTLING (CO-ED)
*Students in grades 6, 7 and 8 may participate
*Information for the wrestling season will be available the week following Thanksgiving break for the upcoming season. More information will   be posted on the Wrestling page
*Practice begins mid-December.  Students must have a physical in order to participate.  See Athletic Documents tab for more information
*Parent meeting will be held in mid-December.  More information will be posted on the Wrestling page

WINTER CHEER (CO-ED)

*Students in grades 7 and 8 may participate
*Tryouts held during spring (squad participates in both fall and winter)

SPRING SPORTS
